ELDER LAW
Sadie Koller is my grandmom. She is about to celebrate her 100th birthday! I’ve been fortunate enough to witness her live through her seventies, eighties and nineties. As my only living grandparent, she represents my experience of seeing, dealing, and coping with all that accompanies aging. She also is my inspiration for devoting my career to the elderly.
My grandmom's remarkable journey to the century mark is living proof that our population is aging. More older people are living longer than ever before. Unfortunately, far too many people are not properly prepared for problems that arise with aging. Often, it is not until something unexpected happens when we are forced to think about and address the programs, protections, and opportunities that benefit older people.
Elder law simply means protecting the rights of older people. This is a huge responsibility, since the law permeates almost every aspect of an elderly person’s life. By taking on this responsibility, I am able to serve a critically important role in the lives of so many people.
We can all relate. We all get older.
